Rain, and few other things besides

It’s February, and it rained. Not the ballistic downpour like in the monsoon, that we usually associate with depressing moments of life. Rather it was orchestrated in brief spells throughout the day. Rain always has an amazing after-effect (no not the rainbow, I’ve barely seen any in my life and I’ve started to believe it only occurs in movies). The scent of the earth, moist and fresh, which has a wholesome, cleansing air. A cold breeze with the rain-scent is the perfect energy boost, an anti-oxidant of sorts.

Since my bicycle is out of order, I’m denied a Great Cycle Adventure under the rain clouds. meanwhile, thinking of the many contributors to the intricate web of my life, I can’t help but think of how much I could grow if I had my sister’s perseverance and sincerity. We being totally different people, that’s a daunting task. But if there’s one thing I’ve learnt (and it may be the only thing), it’s that it never hurts to try to be a better person, for the sake of one’s own happiness. Being a goody-goody to prove something to someone almost always fades away like any other fad. The majority of meaningful lessons are learnt by stabbing oneself unwittingly every now and then.
